Anti-Idling Sign: No-Idle Zone
No Idle Zone / Anti-Idling

Directions for Monitors

  • You will need to arrive at your school five to ten minutes prior to your shift. Please go to the front office and tell the staff that you are there as a monitor for the (Name of organization) idling reduction program and that you need to pick up your supplies.

  • The front desk should give you a clipboard with idling reduction measurement forms, a pen and a stop watch.

  • You will need to stand out in front of the school (in the main pick-up and drop-off area), and record how long drivers idle when picking up and/or dropping off their children. You are not to measure buses or delivery trucks. Idling is defined as when a car is running while stopped or in park.

  • Please use the measurement form to record the idling times and other observations.

  • Once your shift has ended, please return the clipboards, idling forms and stopwatches to the front desk staff.

If you have any concerns or encounter questions from parents about what the you have been doing, please speak with the principal or contact (Program Contact).
